Continental Airlines Inc. has asked regulators for an exemption from new rules to punish airlines for long tarmac delays, saying construction at New York's Kennedy Airport will slow operations at two other nearby airports. If Continental doesn't get its wish, look for the nation's fourth-largest carrier to be quicker to cancel flights that might run up against the 3-hour limit. Continental Airlines will begin a codesharing agreement with All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd. (ANA) on routes between the United States and Japan effective March 28. It will be the first time that Continental Airlines has implemented codesharing with a Japanese airline. Through the arrangement, customers of Continental Airlines and ANA will be able to more conveniently travel between the United States and Japan.

Continental Airlines Inc. says advance bookings as a percentage of available seats on U.S. flights are running flat to 1 percentage point lower than a year ago. Executives at Continental and other airlines have made cautiously upbeat comments in recent weeks about a return of business travelers. But Continental's comments Thursday indicated travel demand is still sluggish.

Continental Airlines CAL today announced that it has reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year labor contract with the Transport Workers Union ("TWU") that represents Continental dispatchers. The TWU is expected to hold a ratification vote in the coming weeks.
